President Donald Trump wrote on Twitter: “North Korea has not conducted a Missile Test since November 28, 2017 and has promised not to do so through our meetings.
“I believe they will honour that commitment!”
The breakthrough from North Korea comes after Mr Trump said the would only meet North Korea‘s despotic leader if the country “take concrete steps and concrete actions”.
White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said at a news briefing yesterday: “The president will not have the meeting without seeing concrete steps and concrete actions take place by North Korea, so the president will actually be getting something.
“The president is hopeful that we can make some continued progress. What we know is that the maximum pressure campaign has clearly been effective.”

The White House has not released a date for a meeting between Mr Trump and Kim Jong-un but the US President has said he will meet with the leader, who extended the invitation.
However experts have warned that the offer to talk from Kim Jong-un could be a trap.
Tom Nichols, a professor at the US Naval War College and a former US Senate aide, said: “This trap is so obvious even Wile E. Coyote wouldn’t walk into it.”
Meanwhile Madeleine Albright, who served under former US president Bill Clinton from 1997 to 2001, warned Donald Trump last year of the problems he faces in a meeting with Kim Jong-un.
She belittled him for prior remarks when he stated that he would be “honoured” to meet with Kim Jong-un “under the right circumstances”.
She explained: “A president doesn’t go to a country without any preparation, and ‘honoured’ would definitely be the wrong way to discuss somebody who is keeping his people in poverty and starving and control.
“I think that part of the issue is that President Trump seems to believe that he can have just one-on-one relationships.
“And maybe that’s possible in business, but that is not something that is possible as president of the United States.
“This is not a matter of charming, by saying you’re ‘honoured’ and he’s a ‘smart cookie’.”
