Huawei P20 LEAKS ahead of release date, and could have a feature to beat the Galaxy S9

Huawei will launch its latest flagship smartphone – tipped to be branded Huawei P20 – in Paris on March 27th.

Ahead of the media event, serial tipster Evan Blass appears to have ruined the surprise.

Leakster Evan Blass, who has an almost-infallible record when it comes to sharing details about unannounced technology products, shared an image of the new phone.

If the leaked images are accurate, the Huawei P20 will ship in three separate versions, purportedly dubbed P20 Lite, P20 and P20 Pro.

All three models look set to ship with a cut-out at the top of the display, like the infamous notch in the edge-to-edge display on the iPhone X.

This cut-out will purportedly house the front-facing camera.

According to the images tweeted by Evan Blass, the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro will have a fingerprint scanner on the front of the phone.

Meanwhile, the entry-level P20 Lite looks set to get its fingerprint scanner on the back.

The headline feature of the Huawei P20 range appears to be the three camera system on the back of the P20 Pro.

Huawei has been teasing the P20’s launch event with the tagline “See Mooore With AI,” so there’s a good chance this new third camera will play a role in object recognition.

Samsung brought a dual-camera set-up to the Galaxy S9+ this year.

The new camera system allows Galaxy S9 owners to use Live Focus, which artificially adds a bokeh blur to the background behind a subject in a portrait-style shot.

It’s unclear how Huawei plans to use the triple-camera set-up on the P20 Pro, but its likely the company has something truly special planned.

With its iPhone X-style notched edge-to-edge display at the front, and a Galaxy S9-topping triple-camera set-up at the rear of the phone, this could be one to watch.

Previous reports from tipster Roland Quandt suggests pricing for the P20 series to sit around £330 for the Lite, £605 for P20 and £800 for P20 Pro.

As always, these are only rumours – so take them with the requisite pinch of salt.

Huawei will its next-generation smartphone on March 27th.

Express.co.uk will have all the details on the new smartphone when it launches in a few weeks.
