Fortnite update: Servers going DOWN as Epic Games release new 3.2 patch

The development team behind the hit Battle Royale game have confirmed that a new maintenance period is required.

This is so that the latest Fortnite update can be launched on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Not much is known about the new 3.2 patch, other than it will include a new Limited Time mode.

Five teams of 20 will be the latest gameplay to try out, as Epic Games continues to experiment with new challenges.

So when can you expect Fortnite Servers to go down?

Well, Epic Games have confirmed that today’s maintenance period will start at around 9am, GMT.

“The mission is a ‘go’ v3.2 will be on its way soon. Downtime for the v3.2 update will begin on March 8 at 4:00am ET (0900 GMT),” a message from Epic games reads.

It’s unclear if players will be kicked out of games 20 minutes ahead of time, although this is something that has happened in the past.

It’s expected that Epic Games will release the new patch notes following the launch of the game’s next update.

One thing it doesn’t look like we’ll be seeing today is the launch of the new Jetpack.

It was hoped that Epic Games would have finished tinkering with their latest item, however, a recent post on Reddit suggests it won’t be arriving until later in March.

New reports suggests that the Fortnite jetpack will use fuel, and is not something that can be used indefinitely.

This will mean it will need refuelling for continued use – however, the way it gets refuelled is unclear.

Fortnite players may need to pick up a certain item to recharge the jetpack or it may regenerate over time.

With recent updates, Fortnite servers have gone down for a few hours before the patch was released to fans on PS4, Xbox One and PCs.

The exception to this rule was Fortnite patch V.2.3.0, which saw the game taken offline for 14 hours due to an unforeseen issue.

The new update will also include new bugfixes for both Fortnite Battle Royale, and Save the World Modes.

Epic Games also likes to debut new weapons and items each week, however, nothing has far been teased.

This may mean we’re going to go a week without a new item being added to the in-game roster.

Epic have shown off a few new cosmetic items, so there’s the chance we could some new outfits make their debut.

Last week saw new Twitch Prime cosmetics released to those with an active account.

The items are still available to claim and will be around until May 2, 2018.
