Bolshoi star Maria Alexandrova joins English National Ballet’s Sleeping Beauty in June

The ENB continues to attract world-class talent to reflect its confident and world-class programming.

Following the dazzling return of Ivan Vasiliev to performs the lead role in Roland Petit’s Le Jeune Homme et la Mort alongside Lead Principal Tamara Rojo inJanuray, another Russian icon will take to the Coliseum stage this summer.

Alexandrova trained at the Moscow Choreographic Academy and won Gold Medal at the Moscow International Ballet Competition in 1997 before joining the Bolshoi Ballet, where she became Principal in 2004.

These London performances mark the first time Alexandrova has ever danced with a UK Company.

Kenneth MacMillan’s beloved and beautiful interpretation of The Sleeping Beauty will entrance audiences at the London Coliseum from June 6-16.

This revival of The Sleeping Beauty coincides with the recent anniversary of MacMillan’s death, and follows the Company’s performances of MacMillan’s masterpiece Song of the Earth in the autumn/winter.

Alexandrova will enchant with her artistry in the classic role of Princess Aurora with stunning sets by Peter Farmer and elaborate costumes by Nicholas Georgiadas.

This classical version of the fairy-tale ballet, of course, features Tchaikovsky’s ravishing score played live by English National Ballet Philharmonic.

As always, the ENB will also continue to introduce UK audiences to even aspect of ballet with a range of immersive and experiences based around the famous production.

Alongside the actual on stage performances of The Sleeping Beauty, English National Ballet will host a range of workshops and events, aimed to provide a gateway into the world of ballet.

Activities include on-stage workshops for all ages, Live Drawing, Family Events, and behind-the-scenes talks.
