Arsenal board hold crunch talks to discuss sacking Arsene Wenger BEFORE the summer

Arsenal have lost four games in a row and the players are playing the blame game.

Arsenal were humiliated twice in a week by Manchester City and then beaten by Brighton on Sunday.

And Wenger’s future is hanging in the balance with reports of in-fighting at the club.

The Sun report that the Arsenal board have held talks over axing the Frenchman before the end of the season.

Wenger’s position will be reviewed in the summer despite signing a new two-year deal last summer.

But the Sun claim he is operating on a game-by-game basis and may even go before the season’s done with their campaign faltering.

Arsenal face AC Milan on Thursday in the first leg of the Europa League last 16.

The Europa League is their last hope of success and of playing in next season’s Champions League.

They were beaten in the Carabao Cup final by Manchester City, by Nottingham Forrest in the FA Cup and are now 13 points behind fourth-placed Tottenham in the league.

The players have been slated in recent weeks with Gary Neville slamming them during the cup final and names have emerged of managerial replacements.

Thierry Henry is among the candidates along with Joachim Low, Julian Nagelsmann, Carlo Ancelotti, Brendan Rodgers and Max Allegri.

Henry has been asked about the role and admits he wouldn’t be able to say no to the club he loves, but stresses he wants Wenger to leave by his own accord.

“Listen, I’m a competitor, you don’t back down from a challenge,” He told Sky Sports:

“We are hypothetically speaking before people jump ahead of everything, [but] I have never backed down from a challenge since I was young.

“If I had listened to people who were talking about where I was going to be, I would not have been here.

“When I arrived at Arsenal, they said to me, ‘Why are you outside of the box, you will never score goals?’ with my position being on the left or whatever it was. You don’t back down from a challenge, you always think that you can.

“When I came back to play for Arsenal, everybody, all my friends were saying, ‘It can only tarnish your legacy, why are you going back there?’.

“If you love a place and they ask – I repeat, they ask – for help, you are always going to say yes. What I am saying to you is again, we are talking about hypothetical thoughts.”
