Kate Middleton pregnancy: When will her last public appearance be before baby arrives?

Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, 36, and Prince William, 35, are expecting their third child together this year and the baby is expected to arrive in April.

The Duchess has had a busy start to the year having attended a massive 38 engagements.

With the birth fast approaching, she’s completed more than three times as many engagements compared to the same period last year when she completed 11 engagements.

So when is Kate expected to go on maternity leave and when will her last public appearance before the birth be?

Women are allowed to go on maternity leave up to 11 weeks before their baby’s due date.

Kensington Palace confirmed the Duchess is due to five birth to the baby in April, and judging by what she did when she was pregnant with Prince George, 4, and Princess Charlotte, 2, we can expect her to go on maternity leave this month.

She has an upcoming engagement on March 7 when she will make a solo appearance to open the new headquarters of the children’s mental health charity Place2Be in London.

It’s also been announced that on Monday 12 March she will attend the Commonwealth Service at Westminster Abbey on Commonwealth Day alongside other members of the royal family.

If this is her last public appearance, we can expect the baby to arrive early April.

Any public appearances later on this month could indicate the baby is due towards the end of April.

Royal expert, Grant Harrold, reckons Kate has increased the number of engagements she’s attended this year through her own choice.

The royal family aide revealed to Mail Online: “Royal engagements are planned many months in advance.

“If one year has a higher number of engagements compared to another, this will be down to what the royal has agreed to do and is happy to carry out.”

Harrold also believes Kate has taken on more duties because she will be having time off after giving birth to her third child.

He said: “The Duchess will, of course, be having some family time once she has a third child and it is unlikely that she will be seen for a few months after the birth of the next royal baby.

“It is most likely that she will be trying to fit in as many engagements as possible before the due date, and make up for the time she was unwell and unable to attend some of her previous events.”
