The date change is a huge shock so close to the release.
Of course, being Marvel they couldn’t just make a simple announcement, it had to be done cleverly on social media in a “conversation” between Robert Downey Jr and the studio.
The Avengers 3 movie previously had a wide range of release dates across the world, ranging from April 25 to May 4. This would traditionally give time for a grand global tour of red carpet premieres to promote the movie.
Now, at the 11th hour, it has been announced there will be one main worldwide date that includes the US and UK.
In the staged chat between star and studio, Marvel announced that the movie would be out on April 27.

Before fans think that the great Iron Man actor can even change global cinema timings, it is clear that this is a shrewdly calculated move by Marvel for two major reasons.
Firstly, Marvel was facing a global spoiler situation with the majority of the world seeing the culmination of the entire MCU a week before the United States.
It would have been impossible to keep spoilers and reviews away from American fans who would already be frustrated at their delayed screenings.
Secondly, May was looking overloaded with major releases. Deadpool 2 and the Han Solo are both out later that month. Deadpool is expected to be a huge box office hit so it makes sense to give another week’s space for Infinity war to rake in receipts before the Merc With A Mouth swaggers into view.
Equally critically, Solo: A Star Wars Story is a major release but one with an uncertain reception. Disney owns both Marvel and the Star Wars franchise and will want to give the Solo movie a clear run at the box office.
