Rafael Nadal kicks off his Mexican Open campaign in Acapulco today with his first round match against fellow Spaniard Feliciano Lopez.
This will be the first competitive match Nadal has played since he pulled out of the Australian Open quarter-final in last month’s Grand Slam.
But the 10-time French Open champion is feeling in good shape ahead of his clash with Lopez.
“I am happy to be here. I feel recovered from what happened in Melbourne,” said Nadal.
“[I took] a couple of weeks of rest and worked hard on rehabilitation. Last week I started practising hard again. I feel ready.
