Real Madrid continue to be linked with a move for Manchester United star De Gea despite their interest in Thibaut Courtois.
Los Blancos are hellbent on adding De Gea to their squad despite seeing a move for the 27-year-old collapse in 2015.
Keylor Navas and Kiko Casilla are likely to be shown the door and the Manchester United star tops their list of potential replacements.
And the Manchester Evening News say De Gea had a meeting with Mourinho last season, where talk of a move to Real was again beginning to resurface.
It is said the Spain international told Mourinho he was unhappy with comments made about being ‘sleepy’ during a game.

Speaking after the Red Devils drew with West Brom, the 54-year-old said of De Gea: “David De Gea was sleeping and he did the funny thing at the end.
“I was laughing at that.”
But the MEN say his comments rankled with De Gea who bristled at the criticism of him.
However, things were smoothed over when Mourinho apologised to his No 1 and, in doing so, managed to persuade him to snub Real again.
United were linked with a whole host of replacements.
Joe Hart, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Jan Oblak all emerged as potential targets as speculation over a return to La Liga arose.
But, ultimately, De Gea stayed put.
And former United hero and Sky Sports legend Gary Neville thinks he is the sole world-class player at Old Trafford.
“De Gea’s the only world-class player Manchester United have got,” Neville told Goal.
“You could maybe say Sanchez, but not at Manchester United yet, even if he has been at a level for the last five or six years that you would say is world class.”
