Does Kate Middleton’s baby bump reveal if she’s having a boy or a girl?

Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, is due to have her third baby in around two months.

The 36-year-old mother-of-two has been spotted out and about, when all eyes have been on the brunette’s growing baby bump.

The Mail Online speculated that Kate is expecting a girl, thanks to a similarity in the shapes of her baby bumps.

The site claims Kate’s bump is “high and wide” like it was when she was pregnant with Charlotte, but claims her bump was lower with when carrying George.

But can a baby bump really tell what gender the baby will be?

According to experts, a bump cannot reveal anything about the gender of the baby.

The size and shape of a bump actually has a lot more to do with the size and shape of the mother than the baby.

Sherry A. Ross, MD, and author of “She-ology: The Definitive Guide to Women’s Intimate Health. Period.” told The Bump: “Like any successful old wives’ tale about pregnancy, determining the baby’s gender based on how the mom is carrying probably came from a great-great-grandmother and was passed down the family tree.

“There are no truths to any of these old wives’ tales I’ve come across during my 25 years practicing as an ob-gyn.”

So what baby bump shape are different women likely to have?

A tall woman is likely to have a smaller bump than a short woman.

Ross added: “Because they tend to have a larger midsection, taller women tend to stick out less and show later than shorter women.”

Shorter women are more likely to have a low bump.
