Call of Duty Black Ops 4 AND MW2 Remastered replacing COD WW2 in 2018?

It’s been confirmed unofficially through sources that the next big COD title will be from a known sub-franchise.

Treyarch are in charge of developing the new shooter coming out in 2018, which is expected to be announced as Call of Duty Black Ops 4.

The new COD game will be releasing on PS4, Xbox One and PC, and will reportedly be the first to arrive on Nintendo Switch.

It’s unclear what kind of limitations will be included in the hybrid version of the game, although lower graphic settings are expected.

Treyarch are the original studio who launched the Black Ops sub-franchise, which has proven very popular with fans.

More was revealed during an Activision earnings report, with Coddy Johnson, president and chief operating officer adding this:

“This fall, we plan to continue to exceed fans’ expectations with a new release from Treyarch — the creators of Black Ops, the most successful subfranchise in Call of Duty history — and we cannot wait to share more about that with you on future calls.”

It makes sense that Treyarch were back in the driving seat, especially since their last game launched back in 2015.

Activision uses a three-year development cycle for their COD games, with the Raven Software team supplying help with a lot of ongoing projects.

Multiple sources have now confirmed that COD WW2 will be replaced by Black Ops 4, which will apparently tone down on the futuristic setting.

A separate rumour is also doing the rounds that suggests Activision may bundle the new game with another.

Two COD games could release in 2018, that of Call of Duty Black Ops 4, and MW2 Remastered.

The first remaster project handled by Raven Software proved a big hit with fans, although it was initially released as part of a bundle with Infinite Warfare.

This strategy didn’t play as well with fans, who did eventually see a standalone launch for Modern Warfare Remastered in 2017.

Unfortunately for fans wanting such a game to be released, the rumours don’t seem to be backed by much evidence right now.

Fans are hoping that something is made for the tenth anniversary of the game, which will arrive in 2019.

This would also happen to coincide with Infinity Ward’s next COD launch, which is likely going to fall in 2019.

If there are indeed plans afoot to release a new MW2 Remastered, fans could be hearing more about it in the months to come.

The next big update will likely come in April or May, the usual time in which we find out more on the COD launch for the current year.

Activision will likely face competition from a new Battlefield game arriving around the same time, although it’s less likely we’ll see a Star Wars Battlefront 3.
