Xbox One Backwards Compatibility games update and enhanced news

Three new games are now available to play as part of Microsoft’s Backwards Compatibility program.

The new titles were announced earlier this week and should be available to download right now.

The Xbox One games in question include VANQUISH, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, and Brave: The Video Game.

February hasn’t been the busiest week for new BC launches, with only around six confirmed so far.

There’s room for a few more to be launched before the end of the month, Microsoft usually make announcements on Tuesdays.

It should be noted that Brave: The Video Game is actually one of the new Games with Gold titles being released in March, and will therefore be available to download by everyone with a Gold subscription.

The digital titles that you own and are part of the Back Compat game catalog will automatically show up in the “Ready to Install” section on your Xbox One.

For disc-based games that are a part of the Back Compat game catalog, insert the disc and the console will begin downloading the game to your hard drive.

And new Backwards Compatible games being made part of the big existing library weren’t the only big news confirmed by Microsoft this week.

The Xbox One X enhanced games list currently includes a host of titles and a few picks from the Xbox 360.

The Xbox One Backwards Compatibility games list includes several titles that run better on the Xbox One X, such as Fallout 3.

And now Microsoft have revealed that they have more plans to bring new Xbox 360 games to the Xbox One X enhanced list.

In a short announcement posted on Twitter, Microsoft’s Albert Penello confirmed more games were in the works. “

Yes. More coming soon,” he replied to a fan query on the subject.

As you can see with the short comment, no exact information has been shared on what new games will be included.

Fans so far have 7 backwards compatible Xbox 360 games that have been enhanced on the Xbox One X, including Halo 3, Fallout 3, Assassin’s Creed, Gears of War 3, Skate 3.

It’s hard to tell what other games could be added next, what with their being a good mix of first-party and third-party titles currently included.

“When the world’s most powerful console launches on Nov. 7, you will be able to run select Xbox 360 games at higher resolution, 9X the original pixel count, and expanded color details”, Microsoft revealed last year.

“The team developed the Heutchy Method (after the engineer who created it) which leverages the power of Xbox One X to let the Xbox 360 emulator present the very best version of the game possible with the existing assets—all without touching the game code.

“The same method improves the graphics for Original Xbox games on Xbox One and Xbox One S.”
