Weight loss can be hard, but scientists have found that apple cider vinegar can help Britons to shed the pounds.

Various studies have found evidence to support this theory, and many are turning to the elixir to lose weight.

The apple cider vinegar benefits are many, according to experts, helping to speed the up the metabolism, clear up spots and whiten teeth. 

However, experts have warned against taking the supplement in tablet form, and suggest drinking the mixture for the best affect.

According to experts, tablets can vary in terms of ingredients and dosages, potentially making them unsafe.

The tablets are not regulated, meaning that you may not being getting exactly what you want.

She added the tablets run the risk of “not containing the active ingredient, acetic acid, which is where the documented health effects come from.”

It is far safer to drink the vinegar than it is to take it in tablet form, she says.

In fact, the expert claims it is always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to taking new supplements.

She said: “There are so many cases that should remind us to stay away from this supplement habit until safety is established.”

What is apple cider vinegar?

Apple cider vinegar is a type of vinegar made from apples, which has a deep amber colour.

Unpasturised versions of the vinegar have a cloudy appearance and are thought to have a number of health benefits.

How much apple cider vinegar do you need to drink for weight loss? 

Researchers found that one tablespoon a day or 15 ml saw test subjects lose 2.6 lbs, or 1.2 kgs and those who had double that a day lost even more, shedding 3.7 lbs, or 1.7 kgs a day.

Apple cider vinegar can be taken in water, but it can also be drank neat. However, as it is very acidic drinking it dilutes may be better for your stomach. 

If the flavour is too unpleasant then it is possible to add a natural sweeter to the drink, and have it with warm water like a tea.
