Emma Chambers dead: THAT Notting Hill scene where she swears and fangirls Julia Roberts

The beloved British actress has died aged 53 from natural causes.

She became a huge television star alongside Dawn French in the smash comedy The Vicar of Dibley as the ditsy Alice.

Chambers also effortlessly stole the scene on the big screen, even when she was in the company of major A-listers like Roberts and Grant.

It’s impossible to forget that classic moment from Notting Hill when her adorable character Honey runs into her movie star girl crush and lets loose the perfect: “Oh holy f***!”

Her opening reaction his exactly what all of us would like to say if we were confronted with a mega-famous movie star in our hallway, or anywhere else for that matter.

Rather than try and recover any semblance of British reserve, Honey continues to babble and win over the audience.

She adds: “This is one of those key moments in life when it’s possible when you can be really genuinely cool and I’m going to fail just a 100%. I absolutely totally and utterly adore you and I just think you are the most beautiful woman in the world. And more importantly, I genuinely believe and I’ve believed for some time now that we could be best friends. What do you think?”

Her entire performance brims with transparent sweetness and a desperate hope for love paired with a sneaking suspicion she might never find it.

She is awkward, gauche and unfiltered. It should be embarrassing but it is delightful.

Every part of her character calls to something fragile inside all of us and Chambers’ beautiful lightness of touch brings it to aching and truthful life.

Of course, her every fantasy does come true by the end of the film. She is firmly best friends with Anna, who is now her sister-in-law, and she is swept of her feet by the man of her dreams. Although we are all still wondering what kind of dreams she must have been having to end up with Rhys Ifans’ quirky and rather unhygienic Spike.

On the big screen and small, Emma Chambers excelled at the colourful supporting roles that can elevate a comedy or drama into something wonderful.

She will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.
