
After over five years off top spot, Federer completed a remarkable 14 months, which has included winning three Grand Slams, by overtaking Rafael Nadal as world No 1.
Despite being 36-year-old, Federer has shown little sign of slowing down, winning nine trophies since the start of 2017 when he returned from injury. Federer and Wawrinka are close friends off the court.
And speaking at the Open 13 Provence event he is competing in, Wawrinka paid tribute to his compatriot for his longevity and domination.
