Manchester United were held to a goalless draw away to Sevilla in the first leg of their last-16 Champions League tie.
Much of the build-up to the game surrounded Mourinho and his relationship with Paul Pogba, who has suffered an alarming loss of form.
Pogba started on the bench, but came on after just 17 minutes following an injury to Ander Herrera.
United failed to offer much threat offensively throughout the game and David de Gea came to their rescue with a few brilliant reflex saves.
While the Red Devils have made some progress under Mourinho, they are 16 points behind league leaders Manchester City.

And BBC Sport pundit Lawrenson thinks Mourinho is predictable and United’s squad would fare much better under a different manager.
“I do think this same squad would play better under a different manager,” Lawrenson told BBC Radio 5 live.
“When you employ Mourinho, you know what you’re going to get.
“It brings trophies though, so what you do you want?
“He will say it is a good result and accentuate the performance.
“But it was dull. Players taking extra touches, there’s no movement.”
