Arsenal v Ostersunds LIVE updates: Latest action from tonight’s Europa League clash

Arsenal 0-0 Ostersunds LIVE updates: Express Sport brings you the latest news ahead of tonight’s Europa League clash

18: Nice from Bellerin. He embarks on a signature charge down the left flank but nobody takes the gamble and Papagiannopoulos (whose name I will copy & paste all night) clears. That would have been bread and butter for Giroud.

15: No wonder Wenger likes this Ghoddos fella. He’s a live-wire and has been central to everything the visitors have created.

12: Maitland-Niles a bit sloppy in possession. He lazily passes to Ghoddos, who releases Nouri. Kolasinac tidy’s things up but there’s real complacency from the hosts.

9: Never said this before, but Robbie Savage is talking sense on BT Sport tonight. He’s saying that any players in danger of missing Sunday’s final should be looking to impress tonight. None have so far.

6: The visitors have continued their bright start. Hopcutt, who is English and should definitely be on that bloody plane, receives the ball from Sema but Chambers blocks.

3: Fair play to these Ostersunds supporters. They’ve packed the away end and are signing their hearts out. Their side almost respond as Hopcutt drives into the box and wins the corner. Wilshere clears.

HERE WE GO…

1: We’re underway at the Emirates folks. Prediction? I fancy another 3-0 win.

THE BIG ONE!

19:50: I guess we should view tonight as a very small appetiser ahead of the big one on Sunday.

Arsenal saw off London rivals and reigning Premier League champions Chelsea to book their place in the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City.

The season’s first piece of major silverware is up for grabs and lifting the trophy would be equally as important for City boss Pep Guardiola as it could prove for his counterpart Arsene Wenger.

TIDY

19:43: Arsenal have lost just one of their last 27 matches at the Emirates, winning 22 and drawing four since a 5-1 defeat to Bayern Munich last March.

INTERESTED?

19:40: Arsene Wenger has praised Ostersunds’ Iran international forward Saman Ghoddos after the last tie.

High praise indeed.

“He is a fantastic player, technically and tactically. I was very impressed with him,” he said. “The whole team is playing good football.”

Get ready for the ‘SUMMER SWOOP’ stories, folks…

BAD NEWS

19:35: Looks like Celtic are heading out of the Europa League, folks.

The Scottish side won the first leg 1-0 but are currently trailing 3-0 on the night and 3-1 on aggregate with about 15 minutes left.

TWITTER ROUND-UP

Ian: Surely we must have a young RB to play instead of Bellerin! Need him fresh fresh! Other than that I would’ve like Reiss Nelson to play instead of Iwobi.

Timmy: I expected more youth to start but hopefully Nelson and Nketiah get a half hour in today. And hopefully Welbz stays healthy.

Bob: Why are we not playing Eddie Nketiah & Reiss Nelson?! The tie is won, give them some game time…

WHY SO BLUE?

19:25: A few people are asking why Arsenal are wearing blue tonight? Allow me to explain.

The Gunners will take to the Emirates pitch in their blue away kit rather than their traditional red and white tonight.

UEFA have told Arsenal to wear their blue shirt to avoid a kit clash with the Swedes.

Ostersunds’ away kit is red and black while their home kit is white.

When there is a potential clash of kit colour, UEFA have the right to choose which shirt a club wears and Arsenal will play in blue, with Ostersunds in their white shirt.

MIRACLE REQUIRED

19:20: Graham Potter admits his Ostersund side need to pull off one of the biggest upsets in history.

Ostersund, a club formed a month after Arsene Wenger was appointed Arsenal boss in 1996, travel to the Emirates Stadium after losing the first leg 3-0 in Sweden last week.

The Gunners are all but assured of safe passage into tomorrow’s draw as they welcome a team who were in the fourth tier of Swedish football when Potter took over in 2011.

“You need one of the biggest football miracles to go through, so we have nothing to lose,” he said. “The only thing you have is the regret of not giving it everything. It is a wonderful opportunity for the players and myself to have this experience.”

TWITTER ROUND-UP

Mel: Everyone talks of Wenger ruining his legacy with every passing day staying at Arsenal. Same thing could be said for Jose If you ask me. He’s damaging his once flawless reputation by not adapting to life in the red part of Manchester.

Harry: I wonder if coaches like Klopp and Wenger look at their defensive tactics and think ‘yes, this can get me a result.’ Not sure if it’s more worrying that they think they’re right or see they have errors and don’t solve them.

Adrian: I think Arsenal will win tonight’s game 4-0. Can’t see them being under any pressure at all.

TEAM NEWS – ARSENAL

19:10: A billion changes may have been inaccurate. Arsene Wenger has actually made three changes from last week’s clash. It’s a pretty strong line-up.

Interestingly Wenger has chosen Hector Bellerin at right-back. Few people questioning whether he should be rested for Sunday’s final.

Jack Wilshere also makes the starting XI, which suggests Granit Xhaka will start against Manchester City.

Elsewhere David Ospina starts between the sticks with Sead Kolasinac at left-back with Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Alex Iwobi supporting Danny Welbeck.

EVENING

18:50: Welcome to our LIVE coverage of the Europa League.

Everyone up for this tonight? Yeah, me neither.

But we should probably see if Arsenal can finish the job in tonight’s last-32 second-leg against Ostersunds.

The Gunners fielded a near full-strength squad in Sweden and were rewarded with a comfortable 3-0 win.

There’s also the added distraction of Sunday’s Carabao Cup final with Manchester City.

And you know what that means. Rotation.

ARSENAL vs OSTERSUNDS – TEAM NEWS

Arsene Wenger will rotate his Arsenal side when they host Ostersund in the second leg of their round of 32 Europa League tie.

The Gunners hold a 3-0 lead from the first leg and, with a Carabao Cup final against Manchester City on Sunday, the Frenchman will take the opportunity to rest some key players.

Aaron Ramsey (groin), Mesut Ozil (illness) and Alexandre Lacazette (knee) definitely miss out while Wenger has confirmed David Ospina will continue in goal and both Henrikh Mkhitaryan – who is cup-tied against City – and Danny Welbeck will start.

Provisional squad: Ospina, Macey, Holding, Mustafi, Chambers, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal, Bellerin, Nelson, Kolasinac, Maitland-Niles, Xhaka, Wilshere, Elneny, Willock, Iwobi, Welbeck, Mkhitaryan, Nketiah.
