Fortnite UPDATE – Season 3 pushed back as Epic Games reveal big Battle Pass change

players will have to wait a little bit longer for season 3 to launch on the PS4, Xbox One and PCs.

Fortnite fans have had a busy week, with the Battle Royale and Save The World Valentine’s Day launching with patch V.2.5.0.

The Fortnite update, which had its release delayed by a day, also rotated out Battle Royale’s SMG weapon and brought with it Lunar New Year skins.

The next big update on the horizon is Fortnite patch V3.0.0, which will see the beginning of season 3 for the hit PS4, Xbox One and PC game.

The Fortnite download will also see the new Spring It On event kick-off and bring new event store items.

Fortnite fans had originally expected the highly anticipated patch to launch on Wednesday February 21.

But the official Fortnite Twitter account today revealed that season 2 had been extended.

In a tweet the Fortnite team revealed: “Season 2 has been extended through February 21! Have you finished your Battle Pass yet?”

That means Fortnite season 3 will launch next Thursday, the day that Epic Games typically release patches.

Epic Games also revealed that the Fortnite season 3 Battle Pass will not be a real money purchase.

The Fortnite Twitter posted: “Season 3 Battle Pass will be 950 V-Bucks. We will not be offering the Season 3 Battle Pass as a real money purchase. Spread the word!”

It hasn’t been revealed whether there will be any server downtime to prepare for the rollout of the patch.

However, Fortnite servers usually go down ahead of major updates launching – so fans should be prepared for some offline time.

Epic Games previously gave a timeline for the upcoming patch releases, and detailed what the updates had in store for Fortnite fans.

Here is what’s coming in the upcoming Fortnite updates for PS4, Xbox One and PCs.

Epic Games also recently revealed that they will be bringing FIVE limited time modes to Fortnite Battle Royale in the next few weeks.

In a blog post, they also revealed that Fortnite will be getting a ‘floor is lava’ limited time mode (LTM) also.

Epic Games said: “We’ve been hammering away at Limited Time Modes! Getting you multiple playlists (solo, duo and squads) during LTMs is at the top of the priority stack.

“We’ve been using multiple data points (including your feedback) to iterate our existing LTM’s and to build brand new LTM’s.

“We are planning to quickly spin up a dozen or so LTMs, some of these may be more straightforward (e.g. along the lines of Sniper Shootout, Sneaky Silencer etc.).

“We also use LTMs to test new Shooting Models.”
