After 17 people were killed, the tragic shooting has become the deadliest US school massacre since Sandy Hook in 2012.
Now charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder, gunman Nikolas Cruz, 19, commented that he would be a “professional school shooter” on a YouTube video uploaded by a Mississippi bail bondsman five months ago.
After seeing the comment, Youtube user Ben Bennight contacted the FBI and reportedly spoke to representatives for roughly minutes.
On Thursday, the FBI confirmed that they were made aware of the comment, adding that they had conducted “checks” but were unable to identify the person who had made the comment.
Following the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, Mr Bennight said the FBI contacted him again.

Local police said they had not been warned of a possible attack by Mr Cruz.
Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel said Mr Cruz’s social media profiles were “very, very disturbing”, referring to two separate Instagram accounts – now deleted – showing Mr Cruz posing with guns and knives.
US media outlets have reported teachers at the school were also warned about Mr Cruz, who was not allowed to bring a backpack on campus.
Maths teacher Jim Gard told the Miami Herald newspaper that school authorities had emailed teachers about Mr Cruz’s behaviour.
He said: “We were told last year that he wasn’t allowed on campus with a backpack on him. There were problems with him last year threatening students, and I guess he was asked to leave campus”.
While it is unclear why Mr Cruz was expelled, former classmate Joshua Charo claimed Mr Cruz had been found with bullets in his backpack and that “he seemed like the kind of kid who would do something like this”.
Mr Cruz confessed he had carried out the shooting with a backpack full of ammunition on Thursday.
Victims of the shooting include the school’s assistant football coach Aaron Feis, who died after jumping in front of students to block them from bullets, and many children as young as 14.
A private school near the Douglas campus was briefly placed on lockdown Thursday morning after a false alarm and local authorities claim they have received reports of copycat threats at other schools in the county.
US President Donald Trump said he was “making plans to visit” Parkland earlier today.
