Steam fans could be picking up some money saving deals on must-have PC games in the Lunar New Year 2018 sale.
Whenisthenextsteamsale.com is currently running a countdown till the next Steam sale.
Their countdown says the Steam Lunar New Year sale 2018 will start on Thursday February 15 at 6pm GMT.
It comes after the alleged start date and finish date for the Steam Lunar New Year sale 2018 was leaked last month.
Describing how they calculate when the next Steam sale will launch, the website said: “Valve never announces Steam sale dates up front, but Steam sales return every year in a relatively stable frequency.
“Based on data from the last few years, the upcoming sale dates are predicted.
“These predictions are a combination of the following factors: dates and months in which a sales started, which day of the week a sale usually starts.
“How long a sale usually lasts, what dates/events a sale generally hits, times are based on the East Pacific time zone.
“Furthermore the dates are updated every now and then when there is more information in recent news.
“As you can see there are multiple sources to find out when a sale will most likely start.”
The last Steam sale was the Steam Winter sale, offering Christmas discounts for PC gamers.
Before that it was the Steam Autumn sale, the Steam Halloween sale and the Steam Summer sale.
Valve don’t officially reveal when the next Steam sale is coming.
So the caveat to this is the launch date on whenisthenextsteamsale.com is, as the website put it, “an educated” estimate.
They said: “This is a fan-based site which will try its best to help you prepare for the upcoming Steam sales.
“Please keep in mind that Valve and Steam are not involved in the creation of this countdown timer.
“In the end the dates provided by this site are basically a guess, even though it’s an educated one.
“This means that it’s more likely that a sale will start at a different time than the timer says, or maybe even not start at all.”
However, whenisthenextsteamsale.com do have an impressive track record.
They correctly predicted the launch date for the recent Steam Winter sale and Steam Autumn sale.
The last time Steam held a Lunar New Year sale was back in 2016, with the discounts not offered to PC gamers in 2017.
However, last month Twitter account the Steam Database claimed the Lunar New Year would be making a return this year.
They said the Steam Lunar New Year sale 2018 would start on February 15 and run until February 19.
They tweeted: “The next @steam_games sale is Lunar New Year Sale and will run from February 15th to 19th.
“Thanks to Steam Direct, it now takes less than 5 hours for that information to leak.”
The shorter run time is similar to the recent Steam Halloween and Autumn sales, which both ran for a week.
