Fortnite update – Valentine’s Day event and patch V.2.5.0 release date REVEALED

UPDATE ONE: Epic Games have confirmed to Express.co.uk that Fortnite patch V.2.5.0, which brings with it the Valentine’s Day event, will launch tomorrow.

The Fortnite update is expected to be released tomorrow morning in the UK.

It had previously been scheduled that the Fortnite update would arrive on PS4, Xbox One and PCs today.

ORIGINAL: Fortnite players had been expecting patch V.2.5.0, which brings with it the Valentine’s Day event, to be released on PS4, Xbox One and PCs today.

Epic Games had previously announced the Fortnite update would be launching on February 14 2018 to coincide with Valentine’s Day.

The Valentine’s Day event will bring with it the Cupid’s crossbow weapon and themed skins to Battle Royale as well as a new quest for Save The World.

In a Reddit post, tweeted from the official Fortnite account last week, Epic Games gave a timeline for when the upcoming patches would launch.

They said patch V.2.5.0 would be released on February 14, followed by patch 3.0.0 on February 21 and then patch 3.1.0 on February 28.

The seasonal gold reset was also scheduled to happen with patch V.2.5.0.

Here is everything that’s meant to come with Fortnite patch V.2.5.0

• Valentine’s Event

• Special Valentine’s questline – A Love Story, told the Fortnite way

• Valentine’s-themed Heroes

• Cupid Crossbow

• New reactive quest type

• Opt-In Difficulty increase for greater challenge and rewards

However, on the day before the scheduled release the official Fortnite Twitter account did not tweet about the patch’s release.

Nor did they reveal any scheduled server downtime, which usually happens before a big patch launches.

It’s left fans wondering whether the Fortnite update has been delayed.

And, according to a post on the Fortnite Reddit, a Epic Games representative confirmed to one fan that patch V.2.5.0 would not be out today.

The Reddit user posted a screenshot of a conversation that took place on a sub-reddit page.

One user asked: “Can we please get a time for when the patch is going out?”

An Epic Games representative allegedly responded: “The patch is not set to release tomorrow.

“We’ll keep you posted on when we do plan on bringing it out though.”

Express.co.uk has contacted Epic Games to ask if patch V.2.5.0 and the Valentine’s Day event will still launch today.

The Fortnite team lifted the lid on the Valentine’s Event last week, detailing what was in store for fans.

In a blog post they said: “Valentine’s day is coming and Fortnite is getting in the spirit. Feeling lovey-dovey?

“Then grab yourself Valentine’s Day themed skins in Battle Royale. Gunpowder, not your thing? The new Crossbow allows you to hunt your prey the old-fashioned way.

“Eliminate your targets with stealth and finesse with this new addition. Need more love? For our Save the World fans, our new Valentines themed quest starts.”
