North Korea’s ‘ARMY OF BEAUTIES’ in pictures

The synchronised cheerleaders made their debut at the first games of the joint-Korean women’s ice hockey team.

North Korea selects members for its cheerleading squad from among university students studying in Pyongyang.

They are screened for their family backgrounds, beauty, and loyalty to the ruling Workers’ Party.

Several women from the various cheerleading squads have risen to stardom for their looks. Among them is Ri Sol Ju, the wife of leader Kim Jong-un.

North Korea has not sent a cheerleading squad to the South since the 2005 event.

They are pictured here making quite an impression at the Winter Olympics 2018 in South Korea.
