Roger Federer: Chris Evert makes HUGE financial claim about tennis star

The former women’s singles champion thinks that Federer, 36, is only able to continue playing the sport because he has money.

She believes that the ability to pay additional staff such as a massage therapist and sports psychologist have helped him play on into his later years.

The Swiss star won his 20th Grand Slam title at the Australian Open last month and he continues to dominate, alongside Rafael Nadal.

And Evans highlighted the difference between his support now to what she had in the 1970s and 80s.

“Today’s players have the luxury of having a massage therapist, a sports psychologist,” Evert told the New York Daily news.

“It’s a team effort. The money is out there, and they can afford to pay people to prolong their careers.

“Roger was off for six months, and came back stronger than ever.

“We had very few weeks off and in the ‘70s, we were building a tour, especially women.

“Players are playing less and taking better care of their bodies now’.”

Federer has already admitted that he will have to pick and choose his tournaments now as he is reaching the latter years of his career.

But he is still hopeful of playing in the major competitions for many years to come.
