Final Fantasy 7 Remake update and Kingdom Hearts 3 release date news

The Final Fantasy 7 Remake looks set to be a very big launch in whatever year the game actually arrives in.

Unlike Square Enix’s Kingdom Hearts 3 release, the new FF7 project doesn’t have a solid year for its launch window yet.

And even though news is still very thin on the ground, fans are desperate to find out more about it.

This was recently highlighted in Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu’s latest most highly anticipated games chart.

And the voting clearly shows the hunger for both Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Kingdom Hearts 3 news is still very much alive.

While neither title grabbed the topspot, they did still manage to reach the top 5, which isn’t bad for two games still without solid release dates.

The Famitsu Top Five chart includes:

  1. Monster Hunter World – 1,357 votes
  2. Final Fantasy VII Remake – 1,036 votes
  3. Hokuto ga Gotoku – 660 votes
  4. Kingdom Hearts III – 636 votes
  5. Dynasty Warriors 9 – 548 votes

The most recent update for the FF7 release on PS4 comes from the Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary Exhibition.

Held from January 22 to February 28 in Tokyo, new image boards from the game are on display, some of which have made it online.

And while the images available to view are not the best quality, they clearly show some of the progress being made by the development team.

These new Final Fantasy 7 Remake images show scenes from the Sector 5 Church from FF7.

There are also images of how some of the early rebel characters look in-game, or at least did at one point during development.

The most recent reports suggest that Final Fantasy 7 Remake will release in an episodic format, with the first arriving late 2018, or early 2019.

For those who have been waiting for news on the Kingdom Hearts 3 release date, it’s been quite a long road.

Fans have had 12 years between Kingdom Hearts 2 and 3, with the first title launching back in 2002 for the PS2.

But having first been announced in 2013, it appears KH3 will finally arrive on PS4 and Xbox One in 2018.

According to an online source, the popular Square Enix franchise will be launched in the fiscal third-quarter of this year.

This still provides a pretty wide range of dates to choose from, meaning that the game could launch as soon as July, or as late as September.

The same rumours also suggest that Square Enix will officially announce the new Kingdom Hearts 3 release date in February.

Something similar happened with the launch of Final Fantasy 15, although that was eventually delayed and pushed back to another month.

This new information does not come from an official source and should therefore be taken with a big pinch of salt.

There are also rumours surrounding some of the new game worlds which will be included in Kingdom Hearts 3.

New excerpts from the PlayStation Official Magazine Australia appear to confirm that characters like Riku will be playable in the game.

This will include perspectives being split between Riku and Sora, who will apparently be exploring worlds based on Tangled and Fantasia.
