Mission: Impossible 6 title and first look REVEALED by Tom Cruise

It’s been three years since the fifth outing, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation and now the 55-year-old star is gearing up for the next.

Cruise took to Instagram today to post two pictures. The first was a clapperboard  from the set, which revealed the title as Mission: Impossible – Fallout.

While the other saw Cruise’s Ethan Hunt holding on to the side of a helicopter in flight.

So what does the title mean? Empire spoke with director Christopher McQuarrie, who also helmed Rogue Nation, to find out.

The director said: “The title has multiple meanings in the film, from the literal to the figurative.

“There is the threat of nuclear terrorism hanging over the movie, which is the literal threat.”

On the figurative, he added: “There’s the notion that what’s happened in the movie is the end result of choices that Ethan Hunt has made in his life.

“It’s Ethan’s past come back to haunt him. It’s the fallout of all his good intentions.”

Footage showed Cruise jumping from roof top to roof top, but missed his landing spot, instead slamming into the side of the building before getting up and hobbling around.

Mission: Impossible – Fallout will be released in UK cinemas on July 26, 2018.
