Mourners have been taking to social media news aggregator Reddit to share their experiences with what they believe are dead people trying to contact them through white feathers.
One person, who goes by the username Inous, wrote on Reddit: “My wife and I were walking the streets of downtown when a white small feather hit my wife’s face then mine.
“We didn’t think anything of it until we saw a medium the next day (planned in advance) and she asked us about a white feather.
“Which was totally random as my wife and I didn’t say anything about it to each other or any one.
“She proceeded to tell us that this was her recently passed grandmother saying she’s still around.”
Another user, Dragonslayer, posted: “My cousin passed away a few months ago in a tragic accident.
“His mother and his best friend have expressed that they have been finding a bunch of feathers in the most random of places. They’d find it in bed, in shoes, etc.”
A third, who has remained nameless on the site, said: “Recently we lost someone in the family and a number of us have found white feathers in the house and I even found one in my wallet. I’ve found them in my bed and in the car.
“I was skeptical of this my entire life but I don’t know, it’s quite strange.”
However, not everyone on Reddit was as full of hope and optimism.
User Jimmyjoebob said that he didn’t want to “be that guy” to bring anyone back down to Earth.
But he proceeded to say: “It’s a comforting tradition but someone has to be that guy.
“Check your pillows or duvet. I have a feather stuffed pillow that drops feathers through the stitching and I find them all over the place.”
