Pokemon Go Kyogre Raids LIVE, new Gen 3 counters, Groudon boxes

Pokemon Go Kyogre fans can now catch the Gen 3 beast in the game’s latest Raids.

Officially confirmed by Niantic today, Trainers can now try their luck at bringing down the meaty Legendary until February 14.

Something you might not know is that the Pokemon Company like to post official guides on how to counter the strength of the latest Pocket Monsters launched in-game.

For instance, being a Water-type Pokemon, Kyogre is weak only against Electric- and Grass-type attacks.

“Its sole Fast Attack—Waterfall—is a Water-type attack, while its Charged Attack may be an Electric-type Thunder, Ice-type Blizzard, or Water-type Hydro Pump.

The platform allows you to display contact information, social media links, services, and products all in one shareable link. Optional features include appointment scheduling, WhatsApp-based storefronts, media galleries, and custom design options.

“Electric-type Pokémon are reliable choices regardless of Kyogre’s moves. Their Electric-type attacks will deal supereffective damage to Kyogre, while none of Kyogre’s attacks are super effective in return.

“Raikou will be the most effective Electric-type Pokémon by far, with Zapdos and Jolteon trailing afterward.”

It should also be noted that Grass-type Pokémon resist Water-type attacks, so they might be your top performers against a Kyogre that knows Hydro Pump.

And when it comes countering Kyogre, the Pokemon Company suggests bringing in a Ho-Oh for good measure.

“Since Kyogre only has two weaknesses, you may need to find a few more Pokémon to fill out a party with high CP Pokémon. Keep Kyogre’s attacks in mind. A Kyogre that knows Thunder will have a hard time matching up against a Groudon that knows Solar Beam.

“On the other hand, a Kyogre that knows Blizzard gives you an opening to counter with your own Solar Beam wielder in Ho-Oh.

“Dragonite can be deployed against a Kyogre that knows only Water-type attacks—and don’t forget about Mewtwo for quick bursts of damage, if you’re fortunate enough to have caught one.”

Kyogre will become even more powerful if rain is falling on the battlefield, although it should be noted that Electric-type attacks will also be amplified during rainfall, which could help in strategy planning.

Groudon is another Legendary that’s still in rotation, although not for much longer.

Groudon will be leaving Gyms on January 15, giving Trainers a few more days to add it to their collections.

Niantic have also released a new incentive for those readying for a weekend of Legendary battles.

A new item box can be found in the game’s store, including stuff that should help in the days ahead.

“Prepare for your upcoming Raid Battles against Kyogre, Groudon, and other powerful Pokémon by purchasing special boxes containing Premium Raid Passes,” a message from Niantic reads.

“Get them while you can in the in-game shop, as these boxes will only be available until January 22.”

Niantic are also adding another new incentive in January, and is something being planned for every month in 2018.

Once a month, Niantic host a Pokemon Go Community Day event starring a special Pokémon, which will appear frequently around the world for just a few hours.

When caught during the event, this special Pokémon will know an exclusive move, with other bonuses also in effect during the event.

This will include things like increased XP or Stardust, while Lure Modules activated during the event will last for three hours.

The first Community Day is being planned for Saturday, January 20.
