Alexis Sanchez: Manchester United already know next transfer even if Arsenal star joins

Manchester United have stunningly thrown their hat into the ring for Sanchez, who is likely to leave Arsenal before the end of the month.

Manchester City have spent months pursuing the Chile international but, with Pep Guardiola reportedly unwilling to match Arsenal’s asking price, it has opened the door to a move to Old Trafford.

The Independent say United are increasingly confident of getting a deal for Alexis Sanchez done.

And it is said that the Red Devils are already turning their attentions to the player’s Arsenal team-mate, Ozil – in what would be a stunning dobule move.

The German played under Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid between 2010 an 2013, signing after the 2010 World Cup.

But the Independent insist that interest in Ozil remains high at United and, should they land Sanchez, they plan to go for the Germany international as well.

Mourinho would no doubt love to weaken Arsenal given his hostile relationship with Arsene Wenger over the years.

And Gunners fans will be seething if two of their best players move to Old Trafford – particularly given how much they still hate Robin van Persie, who left the Emirates for United in 2012.

Meanwhile, Arsenal legend Charlie Nicholas thinks Ozil would be a bigger loss than Sanchez.

“I generally do feel that Ozil fits the system better,” he said.

“Arsenal players are wrong not to go and celebrate a goal with Sanchez but he’s created issues within the camp and for that reason you can’t keep continuing with him.

“He’s held them to ransom. It’s Arsenal’s own fault, it’s not Sanchez’s fault, but I would rather keep Ozil.”
