Donald Trump doctor: Who is conducting US President’s medical exam?

Mr Trump will take a helicopter to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Centre in Bethesda, Maryland for the annual exam on Friday January 12.

The physical will be carried out by Dr Ronny L. Jackson who served as physician to Barack Obama.

The President’s mental health has come under scrutiny following the release of Michael Wolff’s new book ‘Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House’, which questioned his mental fitness for office.

The Hollywood Reporter journalist claims in the book the President repeats the same stories every 10 minutes and has problems recognising old friends.

However Mr Trump, 71, will not undergo a psychiatric evaluation as part of the medical exam, the White House revealed.

In a series of tweets following the publication of the book, the President defended his mental capabilities and described himself as a “very stable genius”.

He claimed “throughout my life, my two greatest assets have been mental stability and being like, really smart.”

Mr Trump is the oldest person in history to be elected to America’s highest office and at the age of 70 was one year older than Ronald Reagan was when he was inaugurated.

The two hour medical exam will include blood and urine test, heart checks and questions about his sleeping habits and sex life.

The results of the test are expected to be made public, but the President can decide to hold back some details.
