He’s only made 41 first-team appearances over the subsequent two years though after failing to force his way into Luis Enrique and Ernesto Valverde’s starting XIs.
Vidal has been tipped to leave Barcelona this winter as the club look to fine tune Valverde’s squad as they hunt La Liga glory.
And the latest reports from Spain suggest Messi has offered his advice to the 28-year-old with his future in question.
According to Diario Gol, Messi is being kept informed of all the potential outgoings.
