Dissidia Final Fantasy NT fans will be able to take part in an open beta on the PS4 ahead of the game’s release date at the end of this month.
Towards the end of last summer Square Enix ran a closed beta, with fans having to register for it beforehand if they wanted to take part.
This time round, the Dissidia beta will be open to much more players, and it will start just a day after the PS4 game’s Japanese release.
The Dissidia Final Fantasy NT open beta will start on PS4 on Friday January 12 2018.
A start time for the open beta has not been revealed yet, but Square Enix has said more will be revealed closer to the launch.

Ahead of the Dissidia Final Fantasy NT beta, producer Ichiro Hazama spoke to the PlayStation Blog about what gamers can expect.
Hazama-san revealed that a PS4 version has been in the works ever since development for the original arcade game was started.
He said: “We actually designed for PS4 right from the start, when we made the arcade version.
“We went to Sony at the beginning of the development and asked them if we could put customised PlayStation 4 hardware in the arcade cabinets themselves.
“They agreed, so while the hardware the arcade version is running on is not exactly the same as the home console – it’s been a little customised for arcades — within each arcade cabinet in Japan there is actually a PS4!
“Since the game was already created for PS4, we’ve focused on different things for the home version.
“One of the things we really felt was important was the story. Having a roster of characters drawn from all titles of the Final Fantasy series is such a good opportunity for a great story and this is what we have put the most effort into.”
Hazama-san added that Dissidia Final Fantasy NT won’t just be for fans of the iconic JRPG series.
He said gamers from all walks of life will be able to pick it up and have fun with it.
Hazama-san said: “We do believe that Final Fantasy is what makes Dissidia NT so great, but we wouldn’t make a game that you can’t enjoy unless you know Final Fantasy.
“If you put aside Final Fantasy, you have this three-vs-three battle system and fun-filled matches taking quite a short amount of time — games comes to a conclusion in about 3 and a half minutes — and I don’t think there’s ever been a game before that worked on that kind of system.
“So, even without the Final Fantasy bits, I think that system alone will be a lot of fun for new players.”
Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is a 3v3 team-based brawler which features more than 25 characters from the entire Final Fantasy series.
The arenas players fight on are from a range of Final Fantasy games, such as Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy XII and Final Fantasy IV.
Dissidia plays like a cross between a Tekken style fighting game and a JRPG, with players able to move around in 3D spaces.
