Xbox One, Switch and PS4 games UPDATE: Resident Evil 2 Remake news coming soon?

For anyone who doesn’t know, Capcom revealed that they would be releasing a Resident Evil 2 Remake two years-ago.

All fans have to go on is the logo for RE2, and the knowledge it is coming at some point.

Since then, PS4 and Xbox One games fans have been waiting to hear more about the project.

However, since the original announcement, there have been no further significant reveals regarding the Resident Evil 2 Remake, or its release date.

And while Capcom haven’t made any big announcement today, fans have noticed something a little interesting.

The Japanese Resident Evil Twitter account recently updated their profile to include a picture of all the most recent releases.

The thing that’s interesting is that there’s a big gap, ready to be filled by another game.

So you can imagine fans are hoping that this could be filled by Resident Evil 2, which just so happens to have an anniversary soon.

Resident 2 turns 20 years old later this month, on January 21, 2018.

The UK and Europe release took place a few months later in April.

Fans will surely be hoping that Capcom marks the iconic game’s 20th birthday by releasing the Resident Evil 2 Remake in 2018.

There have been rumours that, unlike Resident Evil 7, the RE2 Remake will be a third-person game – like the original.

It’s unclear if the perspective will be similar to the over-shoulder viewpoint of Resident Evil 4, 5 and 6.

Or, if it will be a fixed third-person view that changes between environments – like with the original games.

It has also been reported that the Resident Evil 2 Remake could have a release date in 2018.

It would make sense for a number of reasons – producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi did recently say the remake would be out “soon”.

He said: “The only thing I can tell you is about something that’s already out in the public.

“Resident Evil 2, a remade version, the game, will be out from Capcom soon.”

Capcom have previously remade the first Resident Evil, with the HD remake first appearing on the Gamecube in 2002.

Fans will be hoping that the Resident Evil 2 Remake could head to Nintendo Switch after Capcom said they would be bringing more games to the console.

This was following on from the success of Ultra Street Fighter 2 on the hybrid console.

The Switch recently saw the launch of Resident Evil Revelations 1 and 2, which both have already been released on PS4 and Xbox One.
