Last year Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy fired Star Wars Episode IX director Trevorrow over creative differences.
Since the news,The Force Awakens’ JJ Abrams has returned to helm the follow-up to Rian Johnson’s The Last Jedi.
While Trevorrow had been working on the script, Abrams is now doing his own rewrite.
However it has now been revealed that Trevorrow’s original plans for Rey in Episode IX made Ridley cry.
The scene was witnessed by Saturday Night Live’s Bobby Moynihan, who appeared on Collider’s Jedi Council Podcast to reveal what he saw.

“I introduced him to Daisy Ridley at the SNL after-party, the first time they had met. I saw a moment where she said, ‘What happens to me?’ And he said, ‘Do you want to do this now?’ And she said, ‘Yeah,’ and they went off into a corner of the bar and he whispered it into her ear and she was crying.
“I was like, I’m witnessing Star Wars history right now, and I remember being so amazed and feeling so wonderful and happy for Colin because he’s such a fan.”

Bobby added: “I haven’t spoken to him since the news came out that he’s not doing it, but it kills me because I would’ve loved to see what he would have done with it because he was so passionate about it.”
Star Wars Episode IX will be released in UK cinemas on December 20, 2019.
