Nintendo Direct 2018: Big Switch games event teased for January?

While it hasn’t been revealed by Nintendo yet, a big event could be announced very soon.

A new Nintendo Direct 2018 is expected to be revealed and is reported to include the latest news for upcoming Switch games.

The latest rumours suggest a Metroid Prime 4 trailer, an update on the Nintendo Switch Pokemon game and a number of other third-party projects.

Titles such as a Dark Souls 1 remastering and a few EA reveals are also expected, although fans are still waiting to hear about it officially.

And a recent hint may mean something being announced very soon.

A social media account for Nintendo of Russia is reported to have responded to a fan on the subject of a Direct, writing: “Good afternoon! Follow the news – soon expected!”

It’s not the solid proof fans want, but more fuel to fire the recent rumours of a big show.

Currently, it’s believed that a Nintendo Direct will be held on January 11, which would mean an announcement today.

It has also been reported that a few rogue tweets have gone live before the official announcement, although that’s hard to verify from just the screenshots.

Bayonetta 3 was recently reported as a title Nintendo hopes to see arrive by late summer, although nothing official has been confirmed on the subject.

And it’s not the only big new title that would help beef up the Switch’s prospects of selling another boatload of consoles.

According to new reports this week, The Nintendo Switch Pokemon project has already seen a major leak.

The first was in connection with its potential release date, and this latest one is more to do with its branding.

New trademarks have been found that apparently point to Nintendo and Game Freak calling their next Pocket Monster adventure – Pokemon 1 and Pokemon 0.

These listings apparently came with some kind of new art design, although it seems unlikely that they will remain part of the final game.

As you might expect, a lot of fans are sceptical that Nintendo would be trademarking with so much still unknown about the RPG project.

And that’s not the only new Nintendo rumours circulating this week regarding big franchises.

More reports are coming in that claim a new Direct event will be held later this month that will also include big Legend of Zelda news.

A lot of new projects are expected to be announced during it, including a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening for 3DS.

Not only will it be a big new game for the handheld but it will also reportedly feature more open-world gameplay, like that found in Breath of the Wild.

As usual, it’s best to take these latest rumours with a big pinch of salt and hope that Nintendo do announce a new Direct for January 11.

As mentioned above, nothing clearly official has been revealed on a Direct event,

And with it now being 3am, January 11, in Japan now, time is running out.
