McGregor, 21-3, hasn’t fought in mixed martial arts since his momentous UFC 205 victory over Eddie Alvarez, a triumph which saw him become the first fighter in UFC history to hold two titles simultaneously.
The Irishman’s 14-month hiatus from the cage is the result of the birth of his first child, Conor Jr, and a multi-million-pound boxing match with Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Another factor for McGregor’s time on the sidelines is the UFC’s failure to agree a new deal with their poster boy, who wants to be given shares in the company
Earlier this month, White suggested that McGregor could be stripped of his title as he’s targeting a summer return.
“I don’t think Conor wants to fight until August,” White told Yahoo Sports’ Kevin Iole.

“If he waits until August or September, that’s around two years since the belt has been defended and that can’t happen.”
White’s comments raised fears that the UFC are in the midst of a power struggle with their lightweight champion, who has hinted on multiple occasions that he could re-enter the boxing world.
However, White believes negotiations over the ‘The Notorious” comeback are going well.
“It’s looking good to get him back,” the UFC chief told ESPN’s Brett Okamoto.
Despite being confident of having McGregor return to the UFC this year, White admits he ‘doesn’t know’ when the Irishman will fight next.
McGregor’s first fight back in the UFC is expected to be a lightweight title unification bout against interim 155lbs champion Tony Ferguson.
