Camila Cabello debut album PREVIEW & release date: Is it more Havana or Fifth Harmony?

It’s fair to say that Havana changed everything.

Apart from having an insanely catching hook that had everybody ‘Na-na-na’ing” all summer, it redefined the former girlband star as a maojr pop princess who was at the forefront of the rising tide of Latino influences sweeps through the music industry.

After leaving Fifth Harmony, Cabello’s original plans for her debut album were a lot darker.

Titled rather ominously The Hurting, The Healing, The Loving it was going to be a much less sunny affair but all that has changed afte her catchy summer smash.

The album will be released on January 12 and features a new line-up focussing heavily on sultry and sensational latin beats.

Cabello has already debuted some tracks at festivals and shows over the last few months.

Stand outs include the bump and grind of Inside Out and she also shows her softer side on the mellow Real Friends, accompanied by an acoustic guitar.

She Loves Control gives Ariana Grande a run for her multi-octave money with some impressive vocal trills and runs powering a beautiful ballad.

There is also a move towards guitar girl rock chick territory with the catchy Never Be The same Again.

It is all far removed from the pristine manufactured pop of FiftthHarmony and shows that Cabello is determined to establish herself as a credible artist.

Most impressive of all, her name is the first listed on the writing credits for virtually the entire album, including the smash hit Havana.
