Nintendo Switch games UPDATE: Splatoon 2 gets MAJOR new weapon TODAY

owners have been given some good news this week, as Splatoon 2 gets another new update.

The latest Splatoon 2 update introduces a brand new weapon to the Nintendo Switch multiplayer shooter.

The new weapon is known as the Undercover Brella, which also serves as a shield.

Players can open the umbrella up and use it for protection, while firing at the same time. The only downside is that it’s less durable this way.

The Undercover Brella also comes with an Ink Mine, while it’s special is the Splashdown.

The news comes as Nintendo announces plans to increase Joy-Con customisation for Nintendo Switch.

Nintendo’s Shinya Takahashi told IGN that the company is thinking about releasing new Joy-Con colours and designs.

“One of the great strengths of the Nintendo Switch is that though you can play it as a console, you can also separate these two controllers from the hardware,” Takahashi said.

“This gives us a lot of possibilities that we could consider for the future in terms of what you could attach.

“I think that that would be a really good time for us to think about some very different colours or designs applied to [Joy-Con]. That might be interesting.”

Takahashi is also a fan of Switch owners experimenting with their own combinations and designs.

“There’s a lot of joy to be had from hand making something yourself or having all of those customisable possibilities, and we absolutely embrace that,” he said. “We love to see that.”

Switch owners have also been treated to a wide selection of new releases on the eShop.

The latest batch of Nintendo eShop releases is headlined by Steamworld Heist: Ultimate Edition, which costs £14.99. The Ultimate Edition is fully optimised for Switch, and features the DLC ‘Outsider’ campaign.
