PDC World Darts Championship: Sky Sports pundit goes on rant after crowd did THIS in match

The 23-year-old came from 4-1 down in sets to level against Rob Cross in the quarter-finals of the PDC World Darts Championship.

Van Den Bergh’s display had the crowd on their feet and chanting his name at the Alexandra Palace.

The Belgian went a leg up in the deciding set before missing a double to go 2-0 ahead.

And in the end it cost him dear as Cross fought back to win after Van Den Bergh missed three darts at double 6.

For Harrington, though, it was the Ally Pally fans who Van Den Bergh has to blame.

He told Sky Sports: “The crowd may have played a part in this.

“Booing is the only thing in the game I don’t like. I can handle gamesmanship – we’ve all done it and we’ll all take it and it’ll happen again – but booing I don’t particularly like.

“What the fans that were supporting Dimitri did was they cost him the match I think.

“They were booing Rob Cross going for doubles – but then the people that weren’t supporting Dimitri, when he was going for doubles, they were whistling and cheering him.

“In actual fact, they cost Dimitri because he was the one who didn’t close the game out.

“It is part of the game and you’ll never stop it. It doesn’t matter if the referee says ‘quiet please’, it’ll never happen.

“We want the party atmosphere and we want the crowd to be here because that’s what puts millions of pounds in the game and what looks good on TV.

“It’ll never stop but you have to get over it.”
