Lady Amelia Windsor’s posh boarding school costs £39,000 a year

Lady Amelia Windsor enjoys a charmed life as a member of the British royal family, and like most royal children she attended a posh private school.

However, such an education does not come cheap, and the fees at St Mary’s School Ascot are far beyond what most British parents could afford.

The school, which is located in Acost, is a boarding school which was named 2016 “Public School of the Year” at the annual Tatler Schools Awards.

The Roman Catholic school is a girls only institution and takes around 380 students at any one time, accepting girls age 11 to 18.

Students that board at the school are sorted into five houses, Babthorpe, Bedingfeld, Poyntz, Rookwood and Wigmore, which are all named after nuns.

Girls who aspire to attend the school must take an entrance exam, have an interview and a provide report from their current school.

The school’s website states: “If you wish to apply for entry to St Mary’s, we suggest that you register your daughter at least two years prior to the year of entry. This will place your daughter on the candidate list to sit our entrance examination.”

So how much does the school charge parents? For the academic year 2017 to 2018 the school charges £12,260 per term for full boarding.

If a child were to board from years 7 to 13 under the current fee, plus the initial £200 registration fee and £2000 acceptance fee required by the school, parents would pay a whopping £259,660.

What can parents expect in return for spending over a quarter of a million pounds on their child’s eduction?

Notable alumni of the school include actress Annabel Mullion, who had a part on Law and Order UK, BBC One Breakfast anchor Louise Minchin and wife of Harold Pinter, Antonia Fraser who wrote the Jemima Shore detective novels.

Lady Amelia Windsor’s Instagram account shows off the royal’s model credentials.

Lady Amelia has modelled for footwear designer Penelope Chilvers and has appeared in Teen Vogue.

She has also taken an internship at Chanel in the French capital before going to Edinburgh University to study French and Italian.

The model often posts pictures of her with her friends, at various festivals and travelling the world. She is also keen on selfies.
