Volcano ERUPTION: Terrifying video shows Mount Sinabung spew HUGE ash cloud

Mount Sinabung, which neighbours Bali volcano Mount Agung, erupted at around 3.30pm local time on Wednesday, December 27.

Incredible video footage of the active volcano on the western Sumatra Island showed a huge plume of volcanic ash climbing into the sky.

Indonesian officials said there had been no casualties, but thousands had been affected by tonnes of volcanic ash raining down on them after the Mount Sinabung eruption.

BNPB spokesman Sutopo Nugroho said: “Thank God, no fatalities have been reported.

“Residents who live near the rivers upstream from Sinabung must be watchful for lava.”

Mount Sinabung has been at its highest alert level after its first eruption four years ago.

Six people were killed and tens of thousands of local residents were evacuated from the surrounding areas.

Mount Sinabung has remained active, last erupting on December 18.

The Indonesian National Disaster Mitigation Agency has urged residents to listen to the warnings and not enter the three to seven-kilometre danger zone around Mount Sinabung’s crater.

Earlier this month, the eruption of Mount Agung on the neighbouring island of Bali led to huge evacuations of residents and disrupted flights.
