She was fearless and outspoken in life so it is fitting that she should be remembered in the same way.
The official Star Wars tribute to Carrie Fisher at Star Wars Celebrations was already heartfelt and tear-jerking. There is also a moving In Memoriam message for the actress at the end of The Last Jedi.
However, it is her on-screen brother and lifelong friend who sums up her much-missed spirit the best.
It comes on the same day that another Star Wars veteran passed away. A New Hope actor Alfie Curtis died over Christmas and was also remembered today by Mark Hamill.

She was very challenging in pointing out certain dialogue was hard to say. She was brilliant and obviously we’ll all miss her. She will always be the princess, who took command and never backed down, never was in jeopardy. She was always helping the other guys get out of the mess they created.
“We’ll all love her forever and ever.”
Carrie herself referred to her iconic role: “I think I am Princess Leia and Princess Leia is me.”
The galaxy, both far away and the one right here, just isn’t the same without her.
