Roger Federer beats Rafael Nadal in unique poll… but the winner is a huge surprise

Federer enjoyed a magnificent 2017, clinching two Grand Slam titles and finished the year as number two in the world rankings.

While the Swiss showed elements of his joviality during his exhibition match against Andy Murray last month in Glasgow, hilarity isn’t always the first word that springs to mind when watching Federer in full flow.

But US magazine Forbes has conducted a unique poll of the top 10 players in the men’s game when it comes to being the ‘most fun to watch’.

Federer ranked second, ahead of his long-time rival Rafael Nadal who came in fourth.

Australian bad boy Nick Kyrgios topped the table.

When describing Kyrgios’ style, the report said: “A genius touch player, with a trigger temper.

“The closest thing we get to John McEnroe, who ironically can’t stop ripping the guy. You never know what you’re going to get with the Aussie, which is half the fun.

“He plays his best, and most respectful tennis, against the top players. Watching him implode against lower-ranked players is painful, but fascinating.”

One notable omission was Novak Djokovic, who missed the second-half of the campaign with an elbow injury.

The Serbian in the past has been known for horsing about, particularly at The Boodles Challenge event where he did an amazing impression of Maria Sharapova.
