The actor confirmed that his on-screen alias will have plenty to do in the upcoming blockbuster – and he’s very happy about what’s to come.
“We’re doing a lot of really wondrous things that I’ve always wanted to do with this character,” he told the South China Morning Post.
“I think everyone will be very pleased when they find out what happens.”
Renner notably didn’t sound too excited about his role back in 2012, so this is an interesting shift for the better. He had previously claimed that he was “not the character I signed on to play” in the first Avengers movie.
Infinity War lands in April as the first of a two-part story. Avengers 4, its sequel, will follow a year later.
Speculation is rife as to which characters will be killed off, and Hawkeye has entered the discussion quite frequently – but is Renner now hinting that plenty more is to come from him?
Scarlett Johansson had previously hinted at her own exit as Black Widow, telling Vanity Fair: “It’s bittersweet to imagine not having these films to come back to.
“I’ve been living this story with these people for 10 years through ups and downs.
We’ve built a great family. Personally, it feels like a loss.”
Marvel boss Kevin Feige has made it clear that Avengers 4 will herald a new era for his franchise, with a rejuvenated line-up of heroes.
