Arsenal news: Sky Sports man Charlie Nicholas slams FOUR Gunners ahead of Liverpool clash

That’s the verdict of former Gunners star and Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas, who’s taken aim at contract rebel Alexis Sanchez too.

Arsenal sit fifth in the Premier League ahead of tomorrow’s showdown with Liverpool having collected 33 points from a possible 54 this term.

And they’ll be looking to improve on a defensive record which has seen them concede 20 goals in 18 top flight games to date.

Nicholas has now placed blame on three members of the Arsenal first-team for their issues at the back.

And he’s slammed Sanchez as well, with the Chilean below par for Arsene Wenger’s side this season.

“Liverpool are not great defensively away from home, Arsenal are not good at defending at all,” Nicholas told Sky Sports.

“Nacho Monreal can’t play central, Hector Bellerin has never progressed as a defender and Laurent Koscielny, who is supposed to be our best defender, cannot be relied upon.

“We were asked by Jeff Stelling whether Arsenal were playing top-four football last weekend and I said: ‘No, they are playing top-six football because of that defence’.

“Liverpool have the second-best attacking unit in the league for me.

“Arsenal don’t create enough for Alexandre Lacazette and are less of a threat from the edge of the box.

Alexis Sanchez is frustrating the life out of me and I’d like to see Danny Welbeck start on Friday to move their defence around because that’s when you can really expose them.”

Arsenal can leapfrog Liverpool into fourth if they beat the Reds at the Emirates tomorrow evening.
