Star Wars 8: How long is the new Star Wars movie The Last Jedi? Is it the longest ever?

Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi is the second film in the sequel trilogy which began with the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 2015.

With a running time of more than two hour and 30 minutes, The Last Jedi is the longest Star Wars movie in the history of the franchise.

The exact running is slightly disputed but the movie website IMDB lists the running time as two hours 32 minutes, or 152 minutes.

The film’s director Rian Johnson had said that the movie’s runtime, including credits, would be two and a half hours.

Whatever the exact running time is, this is definitely the longest running Star Wars movie ever.

The runtime of the film overtakes the previous longest film, the 2002 prequel film Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones which was 142 minutes (2hr 22m).

The previous two Star Wars movies – Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Rogue One – were 135 minutes and 132 minutes respectively.

Here are the exact running times for all of the Star Wars movies in order of their runtimes.

  • Episode IV – A New Hope is 125 minutes (2hr 5m)
  • Episode V- Empire Strikes Back is 127 minutes (2hr 7m)
  • Rogue One is 133 minutes (2hr 13m)
  • Episode II – Attack of the Clones is 142 minutes (2hr 22m)
  • Episode VIII – The Last Jedi is 153 minutes (2hr 33 mins)
