The actor, who has played C-3P0 in all eight main saga film so far, as well as 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, said that he was “smiling like a fool” when he saw the world premiere in Los Angeles.
Speaking to Express.co.uk, he beamed: “After about 20 minutes [of watching], I was tilted over because I was just entranced.
“You’ll love it. You’ll see it in a few days, and say ‘Anthony was right.’”
He added: “There’s so much more to this than even before, more elements in this.
“Rian Johnson has found new stuff to say, and some wonderful performances.
“Mark [Hamill] is back, what a touching moment that was, back on set. And Carrie [Fisher], a terrific performance, what a way to go.”
Asked what it was like working with the same people he first filmed with back in the 1970s, Daniels admitted: “No different!
“We all get on. You get to know peoples’ foibles, so it was a good experience.”
The Last Jedi, which launched with midnight screenings overnight, has received strong critical acclaim – earning a 94% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Thirteen members of the cast have also been submitted for the Oscars.
