HUDDERSFIELD 0-2 CHELSEA

HT: A two-goal lead is no less than Chelsea deserve against a lacklustre Huddersfield, who haven’t done themselves justice tonight.

45: Should be 3-0. Hazard squares it to the onrushing Pedro, whose shot is blocked by Lossl. Huddersfield all over the place.

HUDDERSFIELD 0-2 CHELSEA – WILLIAN

43: It’s been coming! Chelsea double their lead a couple of minutes before the break with a well-worked goal.

Azpilicueta spreads it wide to Alonso on the far left, and his deep cross is perfectly headed past Lossl by Willian! Who needs Morata?!

42: Close! Bakayoko rises highest to meet Willian’s cross but he guides it a few yards wide of the post.

41: My colleague has just revealed that he’s stuck a few quid on one of those ‘request-a-bet’ things on SkyBet.

He’s plumped for Christensen to score a header and Hazard to score from outside the area. He’ll be buying a round if that 150/1 punt comes in…

39: Chelsea looking to double their tally as we approach the break. Willian swings over the free-kick; it’s headed clear before Kante fires over the bar.

35: Thrilled I’m not Steve Mounie tonight. The poor striker is leading the line by himself and he’s got no support whatsoever. He’s going to need to be clinical when the chance arrives.

32: Willian has been directly involved in four goals in his last four starts in all competitions for Chelsea. Why the hell doesn’t he start more?!

29: Wait a minute! Is this an own-goal from Chris Lowe?! I’ve just seen a replay of the goal and it looks like Lowe deflected Bakayoko’s shot over the line. Can’t quite see if it was on target or not.

26: David Wanger won’t be happy. The manager was stressing that his side couldn’t afford to make any mistakes – and one arrives in the opening 24 minutes.

24: Bakayoko with the opener! Jonas Lossl, who’s been fantastic this season, is responsible I’m afraid.

He slips when trying to play his way out and passes it straight to Kante. The midfielder passes to Hazard, whose delicate flick finds Willian to slip Bakayoko through and convert.

23: The decibel levels rise as Huddersfield win themselves a corner. Mooy trots over to deliver but Christensen clears. Set-pieces will be crucial for the Terriers tonight.

20: Chelsea have clearly learned their lesson from Saturday. They’re switching it from either flank quickly to try and unleash Moses and Alonso – the only problem is that Huddersfield are giants!

17: Chelsea are the second most dangerous side from set pieces – Antonio Conte’s men have 25.6% of their shots from set pieces and score 11.4% of them. Not had any yet, not sure why I mentioned it really…

15: Ooooshhhhh! A deflected cross loops to Mooy, who sees his 20-yard volley blocked by Christensen.

12: BT Sport keep repeating that Tom Ince hasn’t managed an assist or goal this season. I’m inclined to think they’ve got a cheeky tenner on it happening tonight!

9: 60 seconds later the ball is in the back of the net. Willian threads it through Pedro to convert, but he was flagged for offside. Rightly so.

8: A pass over the top from Azpilicueta is very nearly brought under control by Hazard but the ball skips away from him. The Belgian was more surprised to see that he was onside!

6: Still fairly quiet on the pitch here in Huddersfield. Chelsea are dominating possession but they’ve not been able to penetrate their compact opponents.

3: Watford have taken the lead at Selhurst Park. Richarlison finds Janmaat at the back post and he heads in from close range. 1-0.

I WOULD TAKE AN UGLY SET-PIECE – WAGNER

19:50: Huddersfield head coach David Wagner is backing substance over style tonight.

Saturday’s victory lifted the Terriers up to 11th place in the table and kept them five points clear of the relegation zone, while their unlikely win against Manchester United in October will give fans hope of another upset.

“I would take an ugly set-piece goal if it settles the match in our favour. I will take everything against a team like Chelsea. We have to avoid unforced errors and have to be at our top level and then we will see how this team works. It’s a little bit like a cup tie,” said Wagner.

FIRST GAME UNDERWAY

19:45: We’re underway at Turf Moor. Will Burnley break into the top four or will Mark Hughes’ side produce a shock?

JUMP? HOW HIGH?

19:40: Victory over Stoke tonight would propel high-flying Burnley into the top four, for a day at least.

Sean Dyche’s side currently sit seventh in the table – two points behind Liverpool in fourth – but with the sides directly above them not in action until tomorrow, Clarets fans could be able to say they support a top-four team at the end of the game, even if their stay in that lofty position is only temporary.

That’s one of the many Tweets floating around about Chelsea’s Spanish talisman after Antonio Conte told a press conference that Morata was “a bit tired and there is a problem in his back.”

Most of us have barely digested the weekend’s action and now we’re treated to another midweek Premier League feast.

These food analogies are making me hungry.

The Premier League champions suffered a shock 1-0 defeat at West Ham on Saturday, while Huddersfield collected a valuable three points against relegation rivals Brighton.

With the Blues now 14 points behind league leaders Manchester City – nothing other than a comprehensive victory will suffice.

HUDDERSFIELD vs CHELSEA – PREVIEW

Rajiv van La Parra will return to contention for Huddersfield’s home game against Chelsea.

Van La Parra has served a three-game ban following his straight red card in the recent home defeat to Manchester City and head coach David Wagner must decide whether the winger will start.

Wagner has no new injury or suspension worries after Saturday’s home win against Brighton, while defender Michael Hefele returned to full training on Sunday following an Achilles injury. Chelsea loanee Kasey Palmer is ineligible.

Striker Alvaro Morata will miss Chelsea’s Premier League clash at Huddersfield through fatigue and a back issue.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is poised to rotate his options as he seeks an immediate response to the loss at West Ham, but Morata is not available.

Midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko could also be rested after his half-time substitution at the London Stadium, while midfielder Danny Drinkwater (illness) and defender David Luiz (knee) could come into contention, with both being monitored.
