Call of Duty WW2 news: COD PS4, Xbox One Winter Siege and Ranked Play updates

The Call of Duty WW2 Winter Siege event is now live and heading toward Week 2 on PS4 and Xbox One.

As confirmed by Sledgehammer Games, the Winter Siege will be running until January and will include new challenges each week.

And while we’re still in Week One, fans now have the chance of grabbing a new loot crate today.

A free loot crate is available to those who log in, with Double XP still available on the Winter Caranten level.

Winter Carentan will be free for all players throughout the Siege event, with Mosh Pit and TDM, DOM, HP and KC modes currently active.

This will switch out on December 15, with the arrival of the second week of Winter Siege.

Friday will see double XP arrive for the Gun Game playlist, as well as new Daily and Weekly Orders, and Contracts.

Sledgehammer Games have also confirmed more on the new changes that have been confirmed for the first season of COD Ranked Play.

Now live, Ranked Play will see the launch of Party-based teams shortly.

It has also been confirmed that the Placement COD WW2 Season will continue throughout the Winter Siege Event.

Sledgehammer Games have also revealed these changes for Call of Duty WW2 Ranked Play, following the launch of the game’s eSports League action.

CHANGES:

  • FMJ added to the Restricted Items list
  • Molotov Cocktail added to the Restricted Items list
  • Capture the Flag: St Marie Du Mont removed from the rotation
  • Search and Destroy: Gibraltar removed from the rotation
  • All gametypes: Explosive Delay: 7.5 seconds

The first Call of Duty WW2 seasonal event  runs until January 2 and features a wide array of different activities and bonuses.

This includes a frost-covered version of the Carentan multiplayer map. The winter-themed map will be available to all players for a limited time, and not just season pass holders.

Hardcore Call of Duty fans will be pleased to hear that Gun Game is also making a return.

The only downside is that Gun Game won’t be available until the second week of the event.

New Double XP playlists will debut each week, while Headquarters gets a festive makeover, complete with a Christmas tree.

The new Quartermaster, Captain Butcher, is currently live and selling Winter Siege Division uniforms, cosmetic items and weapon variants.

You can unlock a variant of each new weapon by accepting Special Orders from Major Howard. Likewise, players will receive a free supply drop each week by logging in.
