The voice of BBC Radio 4’s Test Match Special, fresh from watching England’s latest Ashes humiliation, was hit for six as he was fined for jaywalking Down Under – across a deserted street.
He was behind the microphone as England lost by 120 runs, with Australia taking a 2-0 lead in the series.
Then just hours later Mr Agnew, 57, was held by officers in Adelaide where walking across the street without using a pedestrian crossing is an offence.
The former spin bowler tweeted: “Booked for walking across a deserted street at 0045. Adelaide. I used to love you. How sad.”
Some fans joked it served him right for being out after midnight – the curfew for England players.

Mr Agnew’s presence for the BBC had been in doubt for the Tests in Brisbane and Adelaide because his wife Emma is fighting breast cancer.
But she gave him her blessing to fly out as she is responding well to treatment.
