APOLLON LIMASSOL 0-2 EVERTON
HT: Well, who saw that coming? Everton have played Apollon off the park and look good value for their two-goal lead. Ademola Lookman has been excellent, while youngsters Feeney and Charsley have done themselves justice.
43: More smart build-up gets Vlasic in but his low shot is saved by the legs of Kissas. Robbie Savage sounds surprised this has been such an entertaining half of football. I am too in fairness.
39: The ball is in the Everton net but it’s immediately chalked off for offside. Home fans not amused. The flag went up against Papoulis, who was a fraction offside when nodding home a free-kick.
36: Almost 3-0. Kevin Mirallas collects the ball, drives forward and unleashes a low drive that whistles past the post.
33: Fotis Papoulis looks the most likely player to score for Apollon. He stings Robles’ palms with a decent crack from range, but the stopper gathers.
30: The Everton self-destruction gene almost kicks in as Besic and Feeney have a mix-up inside their own penalty area which forces Robles into a smart save down low to his left.

APOLLON LIMASSOL 0-2 EVERTON – LOOKMAN
27: One becomes two, and it’s one hell of a goal from Ademola Lookman!
The winger rounds off a lovely passing move with an even better long-range strike from 25-yards out.
24: 10 goals in Europe this season, 10 different scorers for Everton. Sam Allardyce, who’s obviously following this blog, will be pleased.
APOLLON LIMASSOL 0-1 EVERTON – LOOKMAN
21: Everton’s bright start is rewarded with a goal, and it’s Ademola Lookman with his second goal for the club.
Vlasic does well to keep a Mirallas pass in play, and floats a cross over to the winger, who converts with a diving header.
18: On the basis of what we’ve seen thus far, Everton should cruise to victory. Lookman and Vlasic have the freedom of the flank and Mirallas is causing problems in that No.10 role.
15: Almost a dream debut goal for Harry Charsley! The debutant left-back channels his inner Leighton Baines with a curling effort that Kissas tips over the bar. And yes, Apollon’s goalkeeper is actually called Kissas. Robbie Savage has done well NOT to laugh.

12: What a miss! I can’t believe that Ademola Lookman hasn’t scored. He checks onto his right foot and smacks it straight at the goalkeeper having raced clean through. He had all the time in the world to pick his spot!
10: Oh this referee is tough. Hornby hits the deck after a clear bodycheck but nothing is given.
7: I know it’s a dead rubber, but tonight is a big opportunity for summer signing Davy Klaassen to impress. He’s struggled to make an impression since arriving for £25million and is often criticised for drifting through games.
Mirallas goes down inside the penalty area after a 50/50 challenge but the referee isn’t interested.
5: Almost disaster for the travelling Toffees. Robles and Besic hesitate to deal with a speculative through ball but they manage to claw it away to safety.
3: No English side has ever failed to win a group game in the Europa League. The Toffees have started nicely with virtually 100% possession.
APOLLON LIMASSOL 0-0 EVERTON
1: And we’re underway folks. I can’t imagine Duncan Ferguson is going to allow his players to show anything but 100% commitment this evening. Fingers crossed the Toffees won’t finish bottom of the group!

FRESH START
17:50: Morgan Schneiderlin is determined to revive his Everton career having been one of the few senior players sent to Cyprus.
The 28-year-old French midfielder has not started the previous two fixtures and last month both Schneiderlin and Kevin Mirallas, another also in Cyprus, were understood to have been left out of the squad to face Watford having been involved in a training-ground incident.
At the time Schneiderlin denied reports he was sent home due to concerns over his attitude and while once more dismissing that as “fake news” yesterday, he did admit he is keen to make a fresh start under Allardyce.
“First I read about it in the newspaper and I was as surprised as I could be because there was no incident,” he said. “I made a statement on my social networks saying it was fake news and it wasn’t true. I want to turn the page. It was not nice for me to see that and it is part of football. I have to deal with it.
“I want to prove (myself) in every game and of course there is a new manager coming in so it’s a fresh start for everyone. I haven’t had the chance to play the last few games and it is going to be up to me to show what I can do and that I can make a difference to the team.
“It needs to be the aim of everybody to show themselves and show that they can play. It is a chance to prove you can play.”

BT SPORT…
17:45: BT Sport pundits Martin Keown and Jermaine Jenas have managed filibuster their way through the first 15 minutes of coverage.
It’s a tough gig considering absolutely nothing is at stake, but I’m dead impressed by their analysis of Everton youngsters Fraser Hornby and Harry Charsley.
Sounds like they’ve been tracking them for years!
TWITTER ROUND-UP
Phil: Really looking forward to this match tonight. Good to see the lads have a good run-out with no pressure. Big one for Morgan Schneiderlin though. Does he throw a strop that he’s captaining the kids or does he give it a go?!
Mike: Shame we’re not seeing more of the kids ahead of useless individuals like Kevin Mirallas and Mo Besic…
Brendan: Fraser Hornby hat-trick on his debut tonight lads. Get stuck in!
Betfair and a few other betting websites aren’t even offering odds on that, Brendan!

THE DERBY…
17:35: I know Everton fans don’t want to talk about Sunday’s Merseyside derby, especially after Liverpool’s 7-0 demolition of Spartak Moscow last night.
But the cold, hard facts are that Everton are without a win in 17 consecutive league games against Liverpool at Anfield, sice a 1-0 victory in September 1999 courtesy of a Kevin Campbell goal.
And that makes Sam Allardyce’s decision to field a second-string weakened team against Apollon Limassol understandable.
DUNC & SHAKESPEARE
17:30: You may be thinking that Sam Allardyce has morphed into Craig Shakespeare and Duncan Ferguson.
I can assure you that’s NOT the case.
The new Everton manager is hasn’t travelled to Cyprus due to a pre-arranged medical appointment.
In his absence, first team coaches Craig Shakespeare and Duncan Ferguson led the travelling party, while assistant manager Sammy Lee has remained at their Finch Farm training ground to work with the players ahead of Sunday’s derby.

YOUNG GUNS
17:25: Here’s one to make you feel old. The average age of the Everton bench tonight is 17.86…
TWITTER ROUND-UP
Andy: Well done lads, this is the perfect squad for a perfectly meaningless match. It’s all about the Merseyside derby on Sunday!
Steven: You are kidding me. Total disrespect to our fans, our history, our pride, our motto. Shame on you Sam Allardyce.
GP: Massive fair play to the 1400 fans that have travelled to Cyprus to watch the already out bad boy 11. That’s Kevin Mirallas to West Ham confirmed…

TEAM NEWS – EVERTON
17:15: Right…
OK, I should start by saying congratulations Harry Charsley (left-back) and Fraser Hornby (striker), who make their Everton debuts this evening.
They are accompanied by a few first-team stars including Morgan Schneiderlin, Kevin Mirallas, Mo Besic and Davy Klaassen.
Ademola Lookman and Nikola Vlasic are operating on either flank and should provide plenty of pace.
APOLLON LIMASSOL vs EVERTON
17:10: I’ve got the Everton starting XI for you folks, and it’s fair to say it’s a significantly weakened side.
Everton XI: Robles, Baningime, Charsley, Schneiderlin, Feeney, Besic, Vlasic, Klaassen, Hornby, Mirallas, Lookman.
Subs: Hewelt, Collins, Duke-McKenna, Denny, Broached, Lavery, Gordon.

EVENING
17:00: Welcome to our LIVE coverage of Apollon Limassol vs Everton.
They’re calling it the dead rubber of the century with neither side playing at the GSP Stadium tonight capable of qualify for the last 32.
The Toffees have taken just one point from their five Group E games, against Apollon at Goodison Park in September, and have conceded 15 times including a 5-1 trouncing at home to Atalanta last month.
Everyone pumped?! Me neither, but I suppose we should get on with it…

APOLLON LIMASSOL vs EVERTON – PREVIEW
Stand-in managers Craig Shakespeare and Duncan Ferguson look set to pick an Everton team made up of fringe players and youngsters when their Europa League campaign ends against Apollon Limassol.
Boss Sam Allardyce has not travelled to Cyprus due to a pre-arranged medical appointment and the likes of Wayne Rooney, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Jordan Pickford have all remained at home too, with the Toffees, already eliminated from Europe, focusing on Sunday’s Merseyside derby.
Internationals Morgan Schneiderlin, Kevin Mirallas and Davy Klaassen are among the contingent in Nicosia, along with eight players yet to make their senior bows for the club, but James McCarthy and Sandro Ramirez have both stayed at home due to injury.
Provisional squad: Robles, Hewelt, Baningime, Charsley, Feeney, Collins, Duke-McKenna, Besic, Schneiderlin, Klaassen, Denny, Gordon, Lookman, Broadhead, Lavery, Mirallas, Vlasic, Hornby.
